POSITION DESCRIPTION: Transportation Director
FLSA: Non-exempt
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Properly licensed to operate a school bus.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to lift 55 pounds to shoulder height occasionally
- Ability to push/pull a minimum of 20 pounds frequently
REPORTS TO: Superintendent
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve-month employment (261 days) with benefits provided according to the Classified Agreement.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Oversee coordination of all training aspects of the transportation department
- Coordinates with departments to provide provision of services for compliance with NCLB, ADA 504, McKinney-Vento, Special Education, and Charter/Field trip services
- Works with students, parents, school administrators, and the public to address and resolve transportation-related problems
- Develops/updates/implements all policies and procedures relative to the routing and scheduling system
- Supervises assigned transportation staff (i.e. hiring recommendations, interviewing, evaluations, training, and complaints) to maximize the efficiency of the department and meet operational requirements
- Oversee the record-keeping necessary for completing required reports and submissions required to state agencies
- Work with the central office to monitor the licensure status of drivers
- Work with the maintenance director to oversee the maintenance of vehicles
- Oversee the assignment of drivers to routes
- Performs additional duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Operate safely all District provided equipment.
- Assist with the maintenance of both buildings in the district.

Maintains such records as are required.

Perform other duties as may be assigned and is able to be inconvenienced to get buildings ready for operation for the next day.
